Why can the media destroy people's lives without consequence?

These CEOs think they're GOD. they can do whatever they want because they have enough money to strongarm anyone who disagrees into silence. 60 years ago America's mission was to defeat goons like those guys. I guess we must have lost because now they're at the head of every megacorporation in this country. Communists, racists, conspirators, political obstructionists and manipulators.
