Would a walking routine change the appearance of bulging varicose veins in my legs?

I've had varicose veins in my legs since I was around 35, I'm now 52. When I was 44 I started walking 8 miles a day, but only kept it up for a couple of months. I was wondering if anyone had ever experimented with exercise to get rid of the unsightly looking bulging kind of varicose veins. Your input would be much appreciated. I'm going to start walking again, but probably won't be able to walk 8 miles a day again, at least not for quite some time. Thanks community.
