Haven't started my period yet?

Well... I'm 13 turning 14 in 3 months and I haven't had my period yet.. My mom started when she had just turned 14. I've had discharge and "hormones" but I'm not quite sure if I have started my period but just haven't noticed it err what.. My moms a nurse and she said some people bleed very little and even not at all. She has had VERY light periods all of her liife.
