I bought mass effect on pc then i got to the part where i became a spectre then i got to the part right after?

where i find the person whos interested in the keepers then i got to his partner then i saved next time i got on mass effect all my data was deleted. can someone please tell me how this happened? if so can i also have an answer to if i can get the data back someone please help!
