Was Scorpion from Mortal Kombat given a new body after his death?

I know that Scorp was a Japanese ninja before his death, but in the 2 MK movies and MK: Conquest, he's portrayed by Chris Cassamassa, who's obviously not Japanese. Why? Did Scorpion's soul get a new caucasian body after he became a spectre?
